Singular or plural?

I’ve seen both of these expressions:

A) show no sign of

B) show no signs of

Is there any rule I should know about which form I should choose?

Generally speaking, if there is one possible sign of the condition, use the singular. If there are multiple, use the plural. For example: Look for emergency warning signs for COVID-19.
