Singular or plural

Hello,
in sentence: "One of the most important part of FTE is DSS. "
The word "part" should be in plural or singular version?
I ask because MS Word says that it should be plural.

Maybe it is because of differences between my language and English but

There are several parts. The writer is taking about one these parts.

I have another sentence: "One of the major limitation is the transmission ... ". Here again MS Word says that "limitations" is correct form. It is totally unintuitive for me.

MS Word is correct.

One (of the [several] major limitations) is the transmission...

Ok. So I think that word "major" is here in not correct position. Because it should refer to only one limitation. Maybe something like this could be better: Major of the limitations is the transmission... ? The word "one" could be ignored. Or this is better: Major one of the limitations is the transmission... ?

Anonymous it should refer to only one limitation.
Yours are not possible. In that case:

The major limitation is the transmission...
