Singular or plural?

This standard applies to all automatic transmissions that control the oil level using level sticks.

Is the above sentence correct?
Should I say "using a level stick" instead of "level sticks"?
(Each transmission uses one level stick.)

Thank you!

Top answer

You canuse either one, but "using a level stick" would be more precise if each transmission has only one.

Level sticks (if you mean the calibrated steel sticks inserted into the transmission fluid reservoir) do not control the oil; they merely measure its depth/volume. Why don't you recast and save yourself the exasperation?—

This standard applies to every automatic transmission that measures the fluid level using a level stick.

Thank you!

I always get confused.

Are the sentences below grammatically correct?
- Ten cars with a steering wheel.
- Two envelopes with a stamp.
(When I mean one steering wheel on each car, and one stamp on each envelope)

Right. They "measure" the fluid level, not control them. Thank you for your advice.
The sentence you gave me was very articulate.

>Why don't you recast and save yourself the exasperation?

I don't understand this part.
I thought exasperation means anger..

But anyway, thank you very much!

They are not sentences but phrases.

There are two envelopes, each with a stamp, in the outgoing mail box
