Singular or Plural?

Hi,

I have grammatical question that i am hoping you guys might be able to help me with.

In this bullet point taken from my resume, i am confused as to whether to use the singular or plural form of the word "ability."

- Extensive knowledge of Microsoft based operating systems (Windows XP/2000/NT/9x/ME/3.1x) and software (the Office suite of products, i.e. Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, and also Internet Explorer), as well as some basic abilities with Adobe Photoshop and HTML programming.

The phrase "basic ability" is so commonly used that "basic abilities" sounds akward to me. which is the correct usage of the word? Along the same lines, should i be using the plural form of the word "software" as well? Thank you in advance for your help.
