Singlet

Hi.

Is undershirt and singlet the same or they are different garments?

When I google image it, the results are quite similar.

I would be grateful if native speakers help me if they use them often .

Thanks very much

Hi, A singlet has straps over the shoulders instead of sleeves. British people call it a vest. Athletes often wear singlets.

Thanks clive.

So what is the alternative, simply underwear?

Hi,

Yes, I'd expect to hear 'underwear', which covers all underclothes.. But really, these are items whose names I seldom have to say. If I want one, I go to the store, pick it up, pay for it and that's it.

I seldom discuss it. I just wear it.

Thanks.

You are right, in my language it is the same, there are lots of items that they have some strange names which we rarely use them.
