Single word substitutions

Hi All,
Are there any single words (adjectives) that would bring for the the difference between following situations / phrases:
1. I haven't tried
2. I have tried, but couldn't find ?

Do the words unascertained and unidentified bring out the difference?

Thanks
Ajith
