SINCE with a no-time expression

Is it possible to use SINCE and the Duration Form in a sentence like this:
We have been setting the new brake SINCE machine serial no. 1001005 (produced on 2015).
Or should we use FROM, such as "We are setting the new brake FROM machine serial no. 1001005" ?
Thanks.
