Can I say like this ?
a/ I remember that at that time some of my friends found John and Alice going to the movies together, and since then they began/had begaun to pair John off with Alice . Everyone thought it was just a tease , but 3 years after that John and Alice really became a husband and a wife together.
b/One day she discovered that Tommy had been going out with another girl and since then/from then on she began /had begun bebhaving coldly to him.
