Sin or Sins?

Hi

I have a sentence: God allows this because of their sins of spiritual adultery.

Here, I'm confused as to whether it should be 'sin' or 'sins': The word 'their' implies that we should use the plural form 'sins' but when only one sin (spiritual adultery) is mentioned, should it have any effect on the word 'sins'?

Please help.

Thank you
