Vocabulary

simulate/fake/lie

Hello!

Can you please help me choose better variant, or suggest your own. Thank you.

In the same way, body language which can hardly be controlled because it relates to unconscious movements and expressions, indicates whether our collocutor/the other speaker tells the truth or simulates/fakes/lies.

Thank you

Fake or simulate would suppose pretending... But lying isn't only pretending and can be simply telling something we know isn't true or not volunteering information. So I would go for 'to lie'.

Or you could simply say '....whether or not the other speaker tells the truth.'

Thank you Waiti. I think whether or not the other speaker tells the truth is the best.

Or perhaps: "...whether the other speaker is telling the truth".
