Simple sentence

Question

I am jhumjhum I could not log in, I cleared my cookies but alas !!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Make it a simple sentence

I pleaded to them ,I told them why I stole ,but they laughted at me and I was sentenced to ten years in the prison hulks

I suppose "pleaded to them" may be alright.

How many simple sentences are you looking for? Just one? I don't think it's possible.

Clearing his cookies, Jhumjhum was still unable to log in.

"I told them, but they laughed" is clearly a compound sentence.
"They sentenced me to ten years in prison because I stole" is a complex sentence.

In these modern days of non-finite clauses, I'm not sure if "the simple sentence" has any meaning.

I mean to say this really, I could not log in

Make this group of sentences which is written below ,a simple sentence

Pleading with them and telling them my excuse, I only succeeded in receiving their laughter and a ten-year sentence in the prison.
When I was in school, a simple sentence had only one clause.
Yours has two subjects, "I" and "they," and separate verbs.
I put some of it in the passive, making "I" the only subject; and I changed some of the clauses to participial phrases.

As I said in my earlier post, "modern" English grammar seems to consider participial phrases as "non-finite clauses."
How that affects the "simple sentence," only *** knows.

Edit. I shouldn't have said "the passive." The simple subject and predicate are "I" and "succeeded," which make an active voice clause.

But by saying that I receivedthese things, there's a passive implication.
