Hello,

I would just like to ask a related question. Does "the" in the original post makes it incorrect? If not, how does it change the meaning in the particular example?

Thank you.

Please read my previous post, Anon.

My understanding is when you say "the" is unnecessary, it means "the" can be removed, but adding "the" doesn't make it incorrect. I'm not sure about this, though. That's why I ask for clarification. Please advise.

Is adding "the" in the example completely wrong?

It is unnecessary. Please show me where I mentioned anything about 'wrong'!

You didn't mention it was wrong, but you asked me to re-read your post when I asked if adding "the" would make it incorrect. I asked because I would like clarification about how I should interpret the word "unnecessary" in your explanation. My apologies if this is rather a diversion from the main topic.

So if "the" is unnecessary, it doesn't make it incorrect. This is how I understood

a) Wh-questions in the present progressive.

b) Wh-questions in present progressive.

Does adding the word "the" slightly change the meaning in the particular example?-- I don't see any difference in meaning whatsoever.

Thank you for the clarification.

Also, I was wondering if you could share your thoughts on this, please, espcially in my last post.
