Vocabulary

simple present/present continous

Hello,
Are there any differences in meaning between:
- I travel to France next month/I am traveling to France next month.
- We're playing tennis at the local club tomorrow/We play tennis at the local club tomorrow.

I do have a strong preference for the present continuous version, and I can't remember someone using "simple present" instead in sentences similar to the ones above. What do you think? Which version sounds better to you?
