Can anyone tell me the difference between these two questions:

- Your motives will help you choose the best course for your aims and goals.

and:

- Your motives helps you choose the best course for your aims and goals.

As well as

- If you are career-driven, you will need/need a course relevant to your profession

- Having a plan will help/helps you make the most of the opportunities that your way when you're on the course
