Simple present Vs present contineous

hello my friends

which one of these sentemces is correct and why ?

Tom is not working this week,he is on vaccation.

Tom does not work this week,he is on vaccation.

The progressive is more natural. It indicates a continuity of working, and no limited time period.

Contrast with these, in which the simple present expresses a limited period of time:

Today is Tuesday. Tom is not working today. Tom does not work on Tuesdays; that is his day off.)

Teachers are not in school right now. Teachers work 10 months during t

i think "Tom does not work this week ,he is on vaccation." is correct because you tell a fact.
