Simple present tense

Hi,

What is the difference between these two:
1. Oh! no my fish dies.
2. Oh! no my fish died

"Dies" (- present simple) is inappropriate here, but you can say "my fish is dying" if it is happening right now (you can see that the fish is about to die, it is ill...). "My fish died" means that it happened in the past and the fish is dead now - you should choose "died", it is the appropriate form of the verb here.
