Simple present

"Leicester boss Claudio Ranieri may not watch the crucial game between Chelsea and Tottenham on Monday [i.e. tomorrow] as he is on a flight from Italy." (BBC Sport website.)

  • Anonymous Is as a conjunction on par with when, before, since, if, etc.
  • after which the verb in the Simple Present expresses future?
  • Not exactly.
  • You don't need " will be on a flight" in that sentence; nevertheless, unlike those other words, you can write "will be" in that clause.
