simple past usage

I am confused about the usage of past simple tense. From my knowledge, I believe that when sequence of events are in sentence as

I went to bangalore yesterday. I met my friend and we had nice lunch ant then we went to movie. Here, first I go to bangalore, then i meet my friend and then we go to movie as per my knowledge.

I got this doubt when I was studying a book. The doubt is

"Ganesh sat quietly on a plata, a low stool, with his legs crossed and his fleshy hands placed on his knees, his long fingers extended out delicately. He wore a white dhoti."

here, when did he wears white dhoti? He get up from the stool and then wears white dhoti??? if not, if he had been wearing white dhoti, the sentence should be "he had been wearing a white dhoti" please some one carify me.. thanks in advance

Ganesh sat quietly on a plata, a low stool, with his legs crossed and his fleshy hands placed on his knees, his long fingers extended out delicately. He wore a white dhoti. Sharan Yadav R here, when did he wears white dhoti?

  • Ganesh sat quietly on a plata, a low stool, with his legs crossed and his fleshy hands placed on his knees, his long fingers extended out delicately.
  • He wore a white dhoti.
  • Sharan Yadav R here, when did he wears white dhoti?
  • 'Wearing' is something we do all day: it is a condition, not an action.
  • You must know this in order to realize that Ganesh was wearing the dhoti at all times on that day: he woke up, put on the dhoti, and continued wearing it until he took it off in the evening.
