Simple past - Present perfect

A young man has hit a woman with his car. He immediately calls his mom.

Son: Mom, I've just hit a woman with my car. I think she's dead.

Dad: Was it Ben? What did he want?

Mom: He's just killed a woman.

Dad: He did what?!/He has done what?!

Is it natural for native speakers to mix the two tenses?

In my example, would it be natural to respond with the simple past version 'he did what?!'?

Yes. I think the whole thing should be in the simple past, starting with "I just hit a woman ...".
