Can someone help me with this questions, I am doing it wrong all the time.

For a lot of these, if not all, you only need to know two basic principles.

1. If the sentence tells when something happened, like the exact time, day, month, or year, you fill in the blanks with the simple past.

The reason is that the present perfect cannot be used with expressions of definite time, for example, Tuesday, last week, in 1996, last April.

Okay here are the questions with the answers that I gave. The computer tells me that I have 9 faults. I may have 6 faults. The words that are bold is the answers that i gave.

1. William Colgate found the Colgate Company in 1806 as a starch, soap and candle business in New York City.

2. We are writing you to inform you that we moved to Brussels three weeks ago.
