Simple past

I always thought...- This is simple past, right? It isn't past perfect?
I had always thought- This is past perfect.

I had always been- Past perfect.
I always was. - Simple past.
I always been. - I can't say this, can I?

Everyone has its own style.
Why can we use the word 'its' this way but can't use the word 'it' to when referring to people?

I had always been against relationships.
I always was against relationships.

I had always thought you were a girl.
I always thought you were a girl.

What are the differences between the sentences above? Thanks.
