Simple or compound sentence?

'Local residents donated blankets, food, clothing and money.'
I believe this is a simple sentence. The conjunction 'and' is not introducing a co-ordinating independent clause but a noun or noun phrase.
Even though you could argue that there is ellipsis with "local residents donated", it is nevertheless only adding a noun and no a clause.
Many thanks
