Simple or complex

Hello

I got theses questions online ( not solved question) Please correct my answers if I am mistaken.

Identify which is a simple sentence and which is a compound sentence in the followings

  1. Nineteenth-century American scenes and customs were recorded and preserved by the firm of Currier and Ives.
  2. Nathaniel Currier was a printer, and James Ives was an executive
  3. The two men produced “prints for the people.”
  4. Currier favored current events; he produced prints of ships, battles, and news events
  5. Ives had broader interests and generally favored country scenes.
  6. My answers 1 simple though ( and ) is used ( it tells about one thought ) 2. compound ( two ideas ) both clauses are independent 3 simple 4 simple although a long sentence it tells about one idea 5. This one I am suspected with ... It can be simple, but if we think that the pronoun ( he ) is omitted after and ( and he generally favored country scenes ) please help

I would analyse 4. as two simple clauses linked by a semi-colon.

5. is simple. It's just one clause with Ives as subject, and a coordination of two verb phrases (bracketed) serving as predicate:

Ives [had broader interests] and [generally favored country scenes].
