Simple Grammer

1.Years of experience in customer service have helped me develop the ability
2.Years of experience in customer service have helped me to develop the ability

Should use prepostion "to" in between the verb helped and develop?

If I am not mistaken, the word "to" is usually followed by an infinitive when making sentences. But with regards to yout question, I think sentence 1 sounds better. And may I just add, I think you should use "has" instead of "have".
