Simple grammar question

"Could you let me know what has been covered in the class last week?"

"Could you let me know what had been covered in the class last week?"

Just a feeling that it should be the first one?

Sorry my grammar is always a weakness. I read a lot but just cannot memorize the rules.

Thanks.

You need this: Could you let me know what was covered in (the) class last week? You can't use the perfect tense because there's a mention of a specific time ( last week ) which ends before the present moment, thereby creating a time gap between the event and your question about the event. CJ
