Similes

hi guys,

recently came upon a poem called First Love by John Clare and was required to pick out the similes from the poem. these are what i extracted so far. would be grateful if you guys can have a read through and see whether i'm doing it correctly or not:

1. her face it bloomed like a sweet flower
2. my face turned pale as deadly pale (comparing the poet's face to the color of deadly pale).
3. my life and all seemed turned to clay. (comparing the author's life as if it has turned it clay. this sounds more like a metaphor but i picked it because it has the word 'seemed'.)
4. The tress and bushes round the place seemed midnight at noonday. (not too sure about this, doesn't sound like one but i have a funny feeling it is).
5. they spoke as chords do from the string. (words are spoken as if they are chords from a string).

any thoughts on this?

thanks CJ! But people around me seem to have different opinions. Perhaps i should wait for a few more input before deciding on the validity of my options.
