Simile-like usage

In the sentence, "The light was as bright as the sun," as bright as the sun is a simile comparing the brightness of the light to the sun.

What is the following called: "I love you as much as you love me." I remember a professor once telling me what this is called. It is not a simile, but has another name. I just can't remember what it is.

Does anyone know?
