Vocabulary

similarly serious

Hello!

I know this is not OK, but can you think of a synonym for similarly in the context:

There is a reference to similarly serious conditions in the results of the Croatian survey/poll from 1977, which is quoted by the author.

Sorry, but something can't be approximately serious.

"relatively serious"? (said in a tiny voice)

Why couldn't it be simply "similar"?

"Similar" is a noun and "serious" is an adjective.

What can modify an adjective is an adverb.

Yes, I know, but "similar serious conditions" doesn't strike me as odd... Or is it?

I'd use "equally" in that case, the difference of meaning looks negligible to me.

How about "a reference to conditions of similar gravity..."?
