Similar to/// really confusing

Hi,

I have a similar car as Jim. Is this ok?

Or do i have to say that

I have a car that is similar to that of Jim?

Can i use "similar" like "same"?

I have the same car as Jim.

I ahve a similar car as Jim.

Hi, No, we don't treat similar (to) the same as same. I and Jim have similar cars. My car is similar to that of Jim.

No, we don't treat similar (to) the same as same.

I and Jim have similar cars.

My car is similar to that of Jim.

I have the same car as Jim's.

It's probably more formal than necessary for your purposes.
