Hi
Are these two adjectives essentially synonymous?
Silken voice, hair, etc
Silky voice, hair, etc
Thanks,
Tom
Most people recognize 'silky' when they hear it, but might be unsure of 'silken'. This is likely due to 'silken' having fallen out of use. I've only seen it in poetry or old plays.

However, when your intention is to say it is made of silk, it is safe to say 'silken'; whereas 'silky' may imply that it merely feels like silk.
