silent "h" in herb and herbicide?

silent or non-silent, which is popular in North American? Thanks.

Silent. But you'll sometimes hear the 'h', more often in herbicide than in herb . Personally, I always leave out the 'h' in herb , but I often say it in herbicide !

Silent. But you'll sometimes hear the 'h', more often in herbicide than in herb.
Personally, I always leave out the 'h' in herb, but I often say it in herbicide!
I don't know why!

Yeah, silent is the most common. I prefer pronouncing the "h" though. But the name "Herb" always have the "h" pronounced.
