Silenced by

Hello,

What would you say which word best fits the gap in this sentence :

She had just been to the hospital to see her husband and had returned home rather ..... by her experience.

- silenced

- distressed

I prefer 'silenced'. 'Distressed' just does not sound natural to me in this context.
