Silenced

Hi teachers. I have several question to this sentence:

The two dogs sat motionless by the door, silenced by the sound of pounding rain.

- Is this sentence correct, natural, and well-structured?

- Does 'silenced' seem natural to combine with 'motionless' here?

- Also, does 'silenced' mean that the dogs are silent or that they maybe are barking but the sound of that is drowned out by the sound of rain?
