Significance to or in?

I have to write my own question for a history coursework essay and am having difficulty phrasing part of it: "What was the significance of the Suez Crisis in Britain's decolonisation of its African Empire from 1956 to 1963?"
Is 'in' the right word to use there? It doesn't sound quite right to me but neither does 'to'. I'd be very grateful if anyone could help me.

Top answer

I would use ' for ', but 'in' sounds OK, too. Not 'to'.
