What does it mean by "sign up for life"?

What does it mean by "sign up for life"?

I guess that the one who writes this words either someone who had a miserable life as a child that makes him extremely unsatisfied or his life could be fine but his view is generated based on reality. Whether it's the reality in his society or even around the world such as seeing children suffering from neglecting, mistreating or being raised among irresponsible parents who don't show love and care, or they could be born in difficult circumstances such as wars, refugee camps etc. Or could have a difficult life around such as living in poverty, unemployment with vague future. All of those children didn't ask/choose to be born in such tough circumstances. So, being existed in this life is a burden on those them(children). That's why the writer said "Existence is an extremely heavy burden to impose on someone else who didn't sign up for life." It's obvious that he/she meant "children" by that term

"to impose (existence) on someone else(children)".

I am just clarifying the writer's view because I find it obvious to understand. Meanwhile, if I want to go further to analyze his/her writing, it seems that the writer is married and is being pressured by others to have children which makes him/her too upset. The dialect he/she used in the last line especially gives me an impression that it's more than just a point of view.

No, of course. You could put pressure on people to have children, but you couldn't impose them into having children. Even countries who are looking to increase the rates of childbirth, they encourage their people into having children by different ways like providing families certain privileges to each new born, for instance, but they do not impose them. How could they impose them into having children against their will? It doesn't make sense.
