Sign in / Sign on / Log in / Log on

When it comes to messengers, how would you describe the act of typing in your id and password in the fileds?

Sign in / Sign on / Log in / Log on

Sign out / Sign off / Log out/Log off

are British and American English different on this term? personally, I never heard of "Sign on" but I'd like to hear from you.. Thanks in adavace. Emotion: smile

I've definitely heard "sign in," and it honestly seems to be the same as "log in" or "log on." But I agree, "sign on" sounds like something a radio station does, not what a user does with Messenger.
