sights/scenes/landscapes

Most people explore only the sights/scenes/landscapes above the ground, but exploring underground yields exceptional beauty for those adventurous enough to try it.

Hi,

The three words in the above mean about the same to you, but I wonder if they do to you.

Furhtermore, could I replace "yields" with "produces" in the above? Thanks.

Any of the three words could be used. I prefer 'landscapes' to emphasize the differences between on land and underground. I prefer 'yields' , as 'produces' sounds somewhat active, physical.

Thanks, Philip.

To make sure, does "yields" sounds somewhat abstract and metaphysical?

Hi Angliholic

I think 'yield' in your sentence in some ways gives the idea of 'supplying something positive'.
