Vocabulary

sick from / for school

1. Ken was home sick from school today.
2. Ken was sick for school today.

I'd like to confirm the meaning of the sentences.
Does the first one mean that he became sick after he returned home from school?
Does the number two mean that he's sick so he didn't go to school?

Thank you.

Makiasan1. Ken was home sick from school today.
This is natural and very common in American English, even though the word order is not quite logical. #2 is not possible.
