Sic

Hi,
"A YOB charged with with assualt changed his plea to guilty after bragging on Facebook, 'I think I get [sic] away with it' before the jury retired." [From Metro (UK edition).]
Why is the remark "[sic]" used in the sentence? Is something unusual with the usage of the verb 'get' here?
Thank you.

Hi, 'Sic' is used in this way to indicate that the sentence is in error, eg that 'get' is not just a typo by the newspaper reporter. The yob should have written 'I think I got away with it'. Clive
