I think it's "Water Margin," but I could be wrong.

If it's the one you're talking about, it may also have another English title. Unfortunately I can't remember it now.... sorry.

The English translation falls under two titles. Either the "water margin" one or "All Men Are Brothers".

Thanks Julie. I have looked for an online version but have had no luck, so far.
It also goes under the title Outlaws of the Marsh.
If anyone comes across an online version in English, please advise.

The novel is online, just not in English. You're more likely to find a translated copy in a university library. (I know there's one in the library by my house.)

Of course, if you're reeeeaaaaally nice, I'll lend you my Pearl S. Buck ed.

Thanks Julie. That's a kind offer, but I think the postage might just break my bank. Perhaps I can suggest translating the book as a good English exercise for two of my star students (who are Chinese). "Hey, X and Y; what are you doing for the next five to ten years?" No, I couldn't do it. They are great kids!

I don't know if she translated it herself for sure. The book has been sitting on my shelf. I haven't read anything Buck wrote.

(I have friends who think I need to read Eng. translations of Chinese novels. :-) )

That said, I read Minford's translation of Lu Ting Ji out of curiosity.
