shrink, shrank, shrunk

0I am having trouble finding information on the tenses of 'shrink'. The original interest was a passing question of whether "Honey, I Shrunk the Kids" was grammatically correct or not. It's become something sicker than that at this point. Please help. 0-

What you've posted is most certainly incorrect; the grammatical usage is the following: "Honey, I shrank the kids."

If "shrunk" were to be used correctly, it would be "Honey, I've (or 'I have') shrunk the kids," or "Honey, I've shrunken the kids."

I am a British English teacher, as well as a bit of a grammar buff. I have to say that I thought 'anonymous' was correct, ie: shrink, shrank, (have/has) shrunk. However, having checked a couple of dictionaries and grammar books, I have discovered to my surprise that the alternative form ("I shrunk that sweater in the wash yesterday") is also allowable. I suspect that it is used mo

Anonymousthere are no alternative forms for the verbs sing,ring or swim. The past simple tense of these is definitely: sang rang swam.
That's why they are not listed in my list (above) of verbs which do have alternate forms.
