Shows or is showing

"The blood test shows that he is the father of this child" My question is that why present simple "shows" used here not continuous "is showing" as in "google is showing the result" ? Can i say the first sentence is a fact and the blood test will show the same result as long as he will be the father of this child ? and "is showing" has been used for action that is changing? Am i right? please get me correct.
