Showing result for independant search instead of independent

I misspelled the word "independant" in the google search box and the google showed the result "Showing result for independent search instead for independant" and it also showed "did you mean independent"
Here i have two questions 1.Why present continuous "showing result" not present simple "shows result"?
2.Why past simple here "did you mean" it should be present simple "do you mean"?
