Showing a picture to a person

You’re showing picture to a friend (he’s on that picture) and you wonder if he remembers when that happened. Can you ask «Do you remember this?» Does this sound natural to a native speaker? Should you say «this» or «that»?

He’s not sure who he sees on that picture. Is «Is that us?» a grammatically correct response? Can he just say «That’s us?»
