show love to/for others

Giving gifts at Christmas is a great way to celebrate the birth of Jesus and to show love to/for others.

Do both "to" and "for" fit in the above and mean about the same? Thanks.

There might be a slight diiference in implication for the two prepositions. To show love "to" others might suggest a display, to reveal your love for others to see, while to show love "for" others might be closer to the religious meaning of the whole sentence.

Thanks, Spides.

To make sure, what does "to show love for" imply?
