Raina to Steyn, SIX!!, do they still have a chance here? He gets to the pitch of the ball and gets underneath it nicely this time, lofts him over long off this time, off the middle of the bat, Karthik thought he was in with a shout but the ball kept travelling

Could you please explain to me what "shout" means here?

I think Karthik is a fielder who is trying to catch the ball hit by Steyn.
