Should we put past tense verb in front never if the situation is since?

I want to ask of the sentence is" since that day he never (look) back"


Should the word " look" be past tense?

If "never (look) back" continues up until the present then it should be present perfect tense, i.e. "Since that day he has never looked back". If you are describing something that happened wholly in the past (e.g. in a past tense narrative, or the person is now dead, etc.) then it should be past tense, but I wouldn't use "since". I would say it another way, e.g. "From that day on, he never loo
