[Should] we check out the new club downtown?

A: Life is short. We shouldn't waste our time like this.
B: I agree. Let's do something. Should we check out the new club downtown?
A: Didn't you hear what I just said? There's more to life than clubbing!!
B: All right, all right. What, then? You want to start a book club or something?
A: Yeah, that's an idea.
B: I was kidding! Of all the clubs, that's one I'm not fond of.
I'd like to know here what "should" means.
Thank you in advance for your help.

"shall" is uber-formal.
