Should this have a semicolon, comma, etc...

Hi guys. Should this sentence have punctuation before the word "are". Basically, before the list starts. I am thinking a comma. Thanks in advance.

The four areas of MLB roster management that will be examined are the acquiring of new players, the negotiating of contracts,..........

Anonymous. Should this sentence have punctuation before the word "are".
It should have no punctuation as it is. If you re-order, then you may use a colon or an m-dash; also, 'the...of' is awkward:

There are four areas of MLB roster management that will be examined: acquiring new players, negotiating contracts,....

The comma is not needed there. The pause would be in speaking for clarity, but not written.

I suggest

"The four areas of MLB roster management that will be examined are: the acquiring of new players, the negotiating of contracts, ..."

Or just no punctuation at all.
