Should this be who or which?

The knights charged forward and were met by the Tower’s stone guardians, who/which Khadar knew would only delay the invaders.

It sounds to me that the forward charge and the encounter with the guardians were the things which he knew would delay the invaders, not specifically the knights or the guardians. CJ

It sounds to me that the forward charge and the encounter with the guardians were the things which he knew would delay the invaders, not specifically the knights or the guardians.
